Support : Druthers is an independent, people-powered Canadian newspaper

Druthers is an independent, people-powered Canadian newspaper that began in December 2020. It was founded by Shawn Jason to provide news and information that, according to its mission, is not covered by traditional corporate media. Starting with an initial print run of 25,000 copies in Toronto, the publication has grown significantly, distributing over 13 million copies across Canada as of January 2025.

The newspaper is funded through donations and is distributed freely, with each 12-page issue costing approximately 10 cents to print. Druthers emphasizes its grassroots nature, relying on volunteers for writing, distribution, and promotion.

Druthers offers postal subscriptions, delivering physical copies in unmarked packaging to subscribers’ doors each month. Additionally, they provide options for supporters to distribute newspapers in their neighborhoods.

Druthers maintains an online presence through its website, where readers can access current and past issues in PDF format, and through social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

For those interested in contributing or distributing the newspaper, Druthers provides contact information and volunteer opportunities on their website. https://druthers.ca/contact
